Why clubs do it

the book they ask for at bedtime has their club on the cover

Little ones learn the game through rhymes and colourful animal characters. When those characters wear your club's kit, the book becomes part of belonging to the club.

For the child: they learn the words of the game at home, in their own club colours.

For parents: a keepsake from their child's first season, and a gift grandparents can buy at the club.

For the club: something to give or sell at registration, festivals and Christmas.

What your club can have

Case study

richmond rugby minis

Richmond wanted a new way to reach its under-5s and under-6s, and to get the club into local families' lives. Kurt created a Richmond edition of My First Rugby Book, then poster and sticker sets for the first season, for skills, and for rugby's TREDS values.

“From the colours and design, to the club values and foreword, Kurt is very respectful and his desire to help rugby clubs shines through.”

“The children are always very excited to collect their new sticker each week for their poster.”

“I would say absolutely give it a go… especially with your own club colours that the children can relate to.”

why wimbledon cricket club made its own book

“Quite a few of the scenes are based on actual photos taken at the club. There are some pretty special memories in that.”

Jonathan Speller · Director of Cricket, Wimbledon Cricket Club

Wimbledon’s edition of My First Cricket Book was written together with Jonathan, carries the club’s values and foreword, and is sold to junior families at the club.

How long does it take?

At least 8 weeks for a custom book. The biggest factor is how quickly proposals, payments and artwork sign-offs come back, so naming one person at the club to approve things keeps it moving.

How does payment work?

Artwork and samples are paid for at the start. Stock is paid after you approve the sample, and is ordered once payment is received.

Can the club sell the books?

Yes. Richmond and Wimbledon both sell their editions through the club.

Who owns the artwork?

The illustrations stay Kurt’s copyright. We print and supply your edition to the club.
